Adult Intro to Tap!

Tuesdays April 9, 16, 23 and 30 • 6-7pm

Did you always want to dance like Ann Miller, Gene Kelly, or Savion Glover but somehow never got around to taking any classes? Well, it’s not too late! Join us for four weeks of beginning tap classes for adults. You’ll learn the difference between a flap and a slap, how to shuffle off to Buffalo, and why a cramp roll isn’t something that requires a doctor visit. You’ll improve your rhythm and musicality in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. And at the end of four weeks, you'll have a good grasp on the fundamentals of tap technique.

  • Tap shoes are preferred, but if you aren't ready to commit to a pair, please wear shoes with a hard, solid sole. No sneakers or rubber soles of any kind.

  • Wear clothing you can move in but isn't excessively baggy.

About the Instructor: Your teacher, Casey Fox, is an erstwhile performer who’s taught all kinds of dance classes, but tap is her true love. Casey is currently a librarian, grant writer, and cocktail maven, but in her earlier years she was an actor, burlesque performer, and dance instructor. She appeared in more than twenty professional theatre productions before graduating high school, at which point she took a gap year and gave the nomadic life of an actor a shot. She didn't love it, so went to college and made extra money teaching dance classes. She's performed with the Tennessee Stage Company and was a founding member of Knoxville's Salome Cabaret. Favorite performances include Singin' in the RainSmoke on the Mountain, and A Streetcar Named Desire
